Carla, born in 1983 in a seaside town off the Dublin coast, has always found beauty and inspiration in marine shapes and forms, from iridescent fish scales to the vibrant array of coral and diverse and often outlandish and somewhat absurd creatures found below the ocean surface. This influence provided a constant inspiration for her art and printed collections during her time spent at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, where she studied Printed Textile Design. After graduating, she moved to London where she has been continuously drawing and designing prints for the fashion industry.
When designing interiors for her own home, this attraction to marine imagery found a natural home in the furnishings she began to create. Her designs are made up of an assemlage of drawn and photographic images, printed on silk mixed with reptilian patent leatherette.
